Katrina Impact Assessment:

The Katrina Impact Assessment map services host near one-foot Post Hurricane Katrina black and white aerial photography flown on September 2, 2005 to aid users in assessing impacts to area ecosystems and infrastructure. Ancillary data sets such as the transportation network and landmarks have been included to provide context to the imagery.

Landmark

Airport:
The airport layer includes the locations of airports and heliports associated with police stations and hospitals as well as supporting database information.

Boat Launch:
The boat launch layer includes locations and names of marinas and harbors and whether the site is a public or private launch site.

Casino:
The casino layer includes the locations and names of Mississippi Gulf Coast casinos.

Hospital:
The hospital layer includes the locations and names of Mississippi Gulf Coast hospitals.

School:
The school layer consists of school locations and names of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Transportation Network

Impassable Bridge:
The impassable bridge layer contains either damaged bridges or those covered with debris.

Impassable Road:
The impassable road layer contains road sections blocked due to debris, damage, or flooding.

Major Road:
The major road layer contains primary roads in Mississippi.

Secondary Road:
The secondary road layer contains roads intermediately sized roads in Mississippi.

County Road:
The county road layer consists of high resolution street center lines compiled from cities in Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson, Mississippi.

Impassable Railroad:
The impassable railroad layer contains railroad sections blocked due to debris or flooding.

Railroad:
The railroad layer contains actively used railroads in Mississippi.

Damage Assessment

Surge Inundation Contours - FEMA:
The surge inundation contour layer displays the elevation of the storm surge across the coastal areas of Hancock County, Harrison County, and Jackson County.

Surge Inundation Limit - FEMA:
The surge inundation limit layer displays the extent of the surge throughout Hancock County, Harrison County, and Jackson County.

High Water Marks (HWM) – FEMA:
The HWMs layer contains point locations of high water marks obtained from evidence of mud lines, water stains, debris, wrack lines, and eyewitness testimony. The high water marks are designated as indoor, outdoor, or debris.

Advisory Base Flood Elevations (ABFE) – FEMA:
The ABFEs layer contains contours that depict the limit of wave action and the limit of ABFE that are calculated, as well as ABFE contours. ABFEs are based on a new flood frequency analysis that takes into account Hurricane Katrina as well as additional tide and storm data from other events that have occurred during the 25 years since the existing Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) were developed.

Katrina Damage – FEMA:
The Katrina Damage layer consists of Hurricane Katrina Damage Designations (catastrophic, extensive, moderate, and limited) were delineated based on remotely sensed imagery.

Imagery Coverage:
The Available Imagery layer outlines the available images for Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson counties.

City:
The city layer consists of city and town boundaries within the local area.

County:
The county layer consists of the delineation of county lines as well as supporting database information.
