The Harmful Algal Blooms Observing System (HABSOS) website offers a regional, web-based data and information dissemination tool. The website provides information about the collection of cell count observations of the algal species Karenia brevis. The HABSOS mapping application aggregates and displays data entered into the system. This enhances online assessment and analysis of HAB events through the integration of in situ observations and surface forecasts into the map.

This map provides access to Karenia brevis presence and absence data collected from October 2007 to the present, as provided by NOAA's Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services' Harmful Algal Bloom Operational Forecast System (HAB-OFS), Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI), Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), and NOAA's National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC).

In addition, you can access such modeling datasets as the Intra-Americas Sea Ocean Nowcast/Forecast System (IASNFS), the Navy Coastal Ocean Model (NCOM), and the National Weather Service's National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD) from this map, as well as in situ winds.
