Southeast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program (SEAMAP)
This mapping application consists of trawl analysis data for 17 managed species from SEAMAP.
SEAMAP collects, manages, and disseminates fishery-independent data as a State/Federal/University program in the Gulf of Mexico. NOAA's National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC) provides an online mapping application of the trawl data collected during SEAMAP's Summer and Fall Shrimp/Groundfish Surveys from 1987 to 2004. This map consists of trawl analysis data for 17 managed species from SEAMAP.
SEAMAP's Summer and Fall Shrimp/Groundfish surveys normalized all raw weights and species numbers collected during a 60-minute tow time and on a 40-foot trawl size. Results were grouped into 10 by 10 minute spatial grids. Each grid square contains the average weight or count from all the trawls sampled within a particular grid.
Available environmental data include chlorophyll, dissolved oxygen, salinity, turbidity, and water temperature collected during these surveys.
