Data Management Post-Cruise Procedures

Once received by the OER DMT at NCDDC, the data from a cruise are organized by targeted data center and metadata is generated for the data based on the granularity defined in the DMP. The metadata records are saved in Web Accessible Folders (WAF) and the metadata and data are delivered via hard-drive to the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), and via digital transmission to the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) and the NOAA Central Library (NCL). The low-resolution video and metadata managed during cruise execution are pulled into the NCL from the NODC servers after the cruise ends.
